Herd Sires Cows Heifers Calves Referance Sires

After many years, we have finally started a small herd of cattle. We never wanted Angus, but had been searching for something different. By accident almost, we went to look at a couple of Texas Longhorn calves and fell in love with this gentle breed. We loved all of the colors and the huge, curving horns and their gentle natures. Every one was different. They were spotted and striped and speckled. Black, red, brindle, white, dun and grulla. We had never liked a field full of white goats or red chickens or black cows. These were like a bright colored painting, spread out over a field of green grass.
Then we found out that Texas Longhorns are unique in other ways too. Their meat is very low in fats, saturated fats, cholesterol and calories. They produce truly "heart healthy" beef.
They are also extremely hardy and low maintainance including rarely having trouble with calving even in first time heifers. They are also extremely long lived, with cows producing calves well into their teens.
We already know that the few that we purchased are not going to be enough. Texas Longhorns are like potato chips-you can't have just one!
We will be adding photos and pedigrees to these pages as we build up our herd, so stay tuned!
